내부의 타자 Internal other
내부의 타자는 “국경 보호 구역(Transboundary Protected Area)”인 비무장지대에 사는 멸종 위기에 처한 동물들에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 155 마일 길이의 이 지역은 66 년 동안 "우연하게 생긴 야생동물의 낙원"[1]이었다. [2] 그 중에는 두루미는 멸종위기 종으로서 예로부터 장수, 성실, 도덕, 길조의 상징, 또한 산신이 타고 다니며 하늘과 땅 사이를 연결해주는 매개체와 역할을 하는 이야기도 전해져 내려오는 등 한국 문화와 미술에서 중요한 의미를 가지고 있다. 내부의 타자에서 야생 동물들은 작가의 상상력에 의해 비무장지대에 사는 부족민처럼 설정되는데, 두루미는 이 지역의 무당으로 관객을 안내하는 해설자의 역할을 맡는다. 두루미 무당은 지역에 대한 실제적 이해와 상상으로 조합된 여러 공간을 여행하며 “내면적 설원”으로의 명상 속으로 관객을 안내한다.[3]

Internal other focuses on the endangered fauna in the “Transboundary Protected Area” of the DMZ (the Korean Demilitarized Zone between South Korea and North Korea). For 66 years and along 155 miles, this zone has been an “accidental wildlife paradise”[1] for wild animals.[2] Among them the endangered red-crowned crane, which plays an important role in Korean culture and tradition: it is a symbol of longevity, fidelity, morality, and auspicious sign, a spiritual vehicle for the mountain gods, a medium drifting between heaven and earth. In Internal other I have composed a setup with animals as tribal residential populations; the red-crowned crane takes on the role of the shamanic narrator. On her “magical flight” through metaphorical and virtual landscapes, she takes us to several places in the DMZ, ranging from real to imaginary ones, i.e. to the “inner mountain snowfields” in our mind.[3] The artist was born and raised in Korea as a digital generation, and since then has lived in various countries for long and short periods, living in similar and different divisions and boundaries between countries and countries, cultures and cultures, languages, animals, and people. 노한나(1988~ , 한국)는 미디어, 영화, 퍼포먼스 등을 통해 정신과 육체, 가상과 물질을 융합하여 그 경계를 탐구하는 작가이다. <내부의 타자>(2019)는 서울국제대안영상예술페스티벌에서 한국신작전 최우수 구애상 수상, <미접촉 부족>(2022)은 함부르크 국제단편영화제에서 독일경쟁 부문, 아테네 디지털아트 페스티벌에서 상영, NRW Kultur Sekreteriat에서 디지털 드라마투르기, 도르트문트 국제 여성 영화제에서 Shoot 어워드 부문에서 수상하였다.
Hanna Noh (1988-, Korea) is an artist exploring the boundaries between mind and body, virtuality and materiality through media, film and performance. Internal other(2019) won the prize for the Best Korean New Film Award at the 21st Seoul International ALT Cinema & Media Festival, and An uncontacted tribe (2022) was nominated for the German competition at the Hamburg International Short Film Festival, screened at the Athens Digital Arts Festival, won the digital dramaturgy prize at the NRW Kultursekretariat, and won the shoot prize at the Dortmund International Women's Film Festival.
